Black Queens-Banyana share honours

black queensGhana settled for a one -all draw against South Africa in the Africa Women’s Championship group B game played on Wednesday evening, signalling the end of the road for the former giants in Women football.

The result means that the both sides now register their first point in the campaign following their defeats to Algeria and Cameroon respectively.

Hence, the semi-finalists from the group to be decided on the last group match.

The match saw both sides settle into the game in the opening minutes as they sought to find their footing.

Portia Boakye could have scored with 12 minutes gone only to be denied by Janine Van Wyk.

However, tables turned when Octavia Nogwanya opened the scoring in the 19th minute.

Minutes later, Portia Modise almost doubled the lead but her efforts went wide.

But it was Ghana who levelled at the stroke of halftime through Elizabeth Cudjoe before interval when Banyana Banyana defense went to sleep.

Cudjoe efforts went to waste in the 64th minute as her teammates failed to connect with the ball and fluffed their chance.

Hence, the sides leaving their fate with Cameroon and Algeria who make top two of the log.
