Be professional in your reportage- Nana Asabre advises media practitioners

The President of Akan News Casters Union in Kumasi, Mr Paul Asabre Pinamang known in media circles as Oduefour Nana Asabre Pinamang has appealed to media practitioners to be circumspect and professional in their reportage so as to sustain the peace and stability in the country.

According to the ace broadcaster, Nana Asabre Pinamang who also holds Diploma in Journalism, some media houses have made it their trade mark to report only negative things instead of focusing on the positive news which contributed to the development of society.

Speaking to newsmen in an interview on Saturday, August 3, 2019  Nana Asabre Pinamang  a producer of Movies and Music and  the General Secretary of the National society of Ghana Music Producers said the GJA code enjoined media practitioners to differentiate between good and bad journalism.

This, he noted is to help promote genuine media in support of the country’s democracy.

He said the media landscape is characterized by intemperate language and advised the media and all stakeholders to be mindful of their utterances and further advised the media to play their gate-keeping role effectively.

ADMONITION:
Three times Ashanti Regional Best Akan news caster, 2008 USAG Best Student journalist of the year and 2018 NUGS Best student journalist of the year said that the media has a role to play in informing and educating the citizens on their civic responsibilities.

He stressed that the media must play its role in relaying and amplifying the aspirations and concerns of the people to ensure citizen’s ownership and participation in national issues.

“As broadcasters who are aware of our responsibilities as the nation’s gate-keepers, adherence to this code will aid the performance of our duties as required so that our good works will ensure peaceful coexistence to consolidate development’’, Nana Asabre Pinamang observed.

FEAT:
Nana Asabre Pinamang holds Master of Philosophy in construction Technology (Mphils) and has 16 years of experience in contemporary media starting from Success Fm in Goaso, Hello/Peace Fm, Angel Fm ,Bohye FM as General Manager and now with Otec Fm.

He said that the media must be transparent, peaceful, free and fair by delivering thorough, verified and unbiased information and refrain from messages that will incite violence.
