Baako slams Stan Dogbe’s attack on BBC journalist

STAN-DOGBEEditor-in -Chief of the New Crusading Guide Kweku Baako Jnr has condemned Head of the Flagstaff House Communications Bureau, Stan Xoese Dogbe for attacking a BBC journalist in Scotland.

He said the action by the presidential staffer was completely unnecessary and must be frowned upon by all right thinking persons.

Stan Dogbe who is part of President John Mahama’s delegation in Scotland, angrily shoved a BBC journalist who had sought to interview the president on issues of rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender in Ghana.

President Mahama’s visit received huge media reportage after Minority MPs in the Commonwealth country stormed out of their parliament upon arrival of the Ghanaian leader over claims that Ghana tolerates abuses on homosexuals.

They argue the presence of Mr. Mahama was an affront to the gay community in their country since they respect and recognize their rights.

The journalist after President Mahama’s ‘ordeal’ tried to ask probing questions as the President exited, but an angry looking Stan Dogbe literally blocked the journalist with his arm, an action that drew a lot of condemnation from the Scottish and other Scottish media.

However speaking on Joy FM’s News File programme on Saturday, Kweku Baako stated that Stan Dogbe over reacted and also took over a job that is not part of his mandate.

“Was the journalist a terrorist, are we supposed to commend that? My goodness …what are we talking about? That is not something to commend.

“The President has security, if it is security risks that is different and even that one it’s not even Stan who will be responsible for that, but if it was a journalist who was probing and was not doing it in any intimidating and violent manner, I don’t see why he should be stopped physically. The President is capable of answering any question”.
