Red CrossThe Ashanti regional office of the Ghana Red Cross Society is set to train all broadcasters and journalists in the region in first aid.

This is to enable the media men help save lives even as they go into the deprived areas of Ghana to cover electioneering campaigns and the elections slated for November 7.

Ashanti regional head of the Red Cross; Michael Asante tells rawgist.com the training has been scheduled for the 7th May, 2016 to coincide with the World Red Cross Day celebrations. He encourages all Broadcasters to make it a point to spend about two hours to learn basic first aid manoeuvres at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Many rural communities in Ghana lack or have inadequate medical facilities as well as personnel. The focus of the Red Cross Society in the Ashanti region according Mr. Asante is to ensure that as many people as possible attain some proficiency in first aid in order to reduce avoidable deaths and other complications that are due to poor first aid handling of health emergencies.
