4Syte Music Video Awards “fair” – Selection C’ttee member

4syteA member of the 4Syte Music Video Awards nominations committee, Ezekiel Tetteh, has parried suggestions that sought to impugn the integrity of the awards scheme.

Denying accusations of unfairness in their selection processes, Tetteh in an exclusive interview with StarrFMonline.com, said there are strict procedures that committee members have to follow each time they nominate videos meant for consideration for the ultimate award.

“The awards have always been fair. We are not at liberty to just choose what we want. There are guidelines and three different levels of decision making. Aside that, we look at editing, quality of pictures, directing, and a whole lot”, he said.

Rapper Edem and dancehall performer Stonebwoy, have both complained about the nomination process for the awards.

According to the two, who both received nominations in the recently announced list, specific songs they did should have made the cut for some categories.

Edem suggested his 7 nominations may amount to nothing because his most popular track, ‘Koene’, was not selected for any of the categories.

Meanwhile, Tetteh, who is a professional music video director, and well-known for his work on Shatta Wale’s Real Hustler track, said musicians often get disappointed with the award organisers when their tracks don’t make it because they are emotionally attached to their work.

“Everyone holds their own opinion. For every award season, there are issues. Artistes feel disappointed when their hit tracks don’t make the cut. “But what they fail to understand is that we look at video quality, not the song itself…the track can be big on the street, but the video may be week.”

He added that they will not be forced to “lower the standards” to suit individual musicians.
