20th Commonwealth Games ends in glamour

GlasgowThe 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland ended with a glamorous ceremony at the over 52,063, capacity Hampdon Park Stadium, in Glasgow.

A ceremony described as unforgettable, saw a display, culture and tradition of the proud Scottish people, laced with musical display and fireworks to the admiration of the 52,063 people at the stadium.

It was a Games which saw more than 140 Commonwealth records broken as elite athletes from 71 nations and territories competed for Games glory as the home nations triumphed in front of ecstatic crowds who raised the roof in packed venues across 11 days.

The closing ceremony was indeed perfect after-party event which saw the likes Kylie Minogue, Lulu and Deacon Blue performing alongside more than 2,000 volunteers to crown the 11 days of sports.

It was a night of firework, display of high level technology aimed giving people a fitting farewell.

The ceremony saw the handing over of the Commonwealth Flag to Gold Coast, Australia, the next host of the Games.

Ghana, one of the 71 countries that participated in the event, placed 33 out of the 36 countries on the medal table with two bronze medals from boxing and judo.
