Yendi – Youth demonstrate against president for denying their MP ministerial appointment

Some angry youth suspected to be

supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party and sympathizers of the MP for the Yendi Constituency, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, on the afternoon of Thursday April 15 2021 took to the streets of the Dagbon capital amidst chanting of war songs and beating of war drums to register their anger at the president for allegedly denying their MP a ministerial appointment in the second term of the Nana Addo-led NPP government.

The youth burnt tires on some principal streets of Yendi to register their displeasure.

They carried placards some of which read “Dagbon deserves better”, ” Nana you betrayed Yendi’ and “Don’t betray Aliu Mahama” among others to show their anger at the president for their suspicion of the denial of appointment for their MP.

The demonstrators however could not prolong their activities as a joint police and military team forced the demonstrators to put their action to a stop on the basis that it was an illegal demonstration.

The police /military team in collaboration with officers of the Ghana National Fire Service put the situation under control by preventing the demonstrators from causing any destruction to property as feared by many.
