X’mas/New year presents: Get your child a Science set, not a toy gun- Dext Technology

By Bernard Buachi, rawgist.com

It has become the norm these days to get children toy guns and other war-related toys especially during the Christmas season. This practice has persisted for several decades to the point where children expect water pistols, toy pistols of various types, toy rifles etc for Christmas.

Science has however established variously how a child’s play items could influence their predisposition to violence, aggressive or antisocial behavior.

This advise is not only for the Christmas season.

Though the fleeting interest children express in these toy guns may be innocent, the long term effect may be harmful programming that predisposes them to violence considering the fact that they are bombarded with guns in movies and in computer games as well.

Director of Strategy at Dext technology; Caleb Fugah has used the occasion of the Christmas and New Year celebration to call on African parents to be watchful of the kind of presents they buy their kids this festive season. He also advised parents to ensure they get the sets for their kids as they prepare to return to school after the Christmas break.

He stressed that acquiring Science sets for kids will go a long way to change the future of the continent. He believes strongly that the Science sets will programme the younger generation to be science and technology oriented.

He says if parents change the trend of what their children play with now, the continent will be saved burden of violent crimes in years to come.

The Science Set, rawgist.com has found is fast becoming a thing of pride for kids who own them. Parents could boost the confidence of their children and also their love for Science by getting them the sets as they return to school after the Christmas/New year holidays.

Science Set

The Science Set is a small pack containing various components such as resistors, capacitors, conductors, bulbs amongst others that enables teachers demonstrate different scientific concepts to pupils and students.

Dext Technology has upgraded the Science Set to include a pump, windmill, solar panel, integration for vertical farms and robotics components.

The new Science Sets are more project based compared to the previous one that was theory based.

The Technology company produces five thousand Science Sets every month. Currently, over 30,000 pupils from over 100 schools in Ghana have access to the Science sets.

Parents, guardians, philanthropists, government officials will do society a lot of good by taking advantage of the cheaper prices and availability of the sets to purchase for their wards and constituents as the Science sets produced in Ghana are already revolutionizing science and technology education throughout Africa and beyond.
