The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokwa, Chief Akwannuasa Gyimah last Thursday toured the Atonsu-Agogo Market to educate traders on how to handle their activities in the face of the threat of the viral disease, coronavirus.
Touring the market with some NADMO officials and staff of the Assembly, Chief Akwannuasa said the best way for one to prevent catching the viral infection was to wash both hands very well.
The MCE entreated them to use both soap and water to wash their hands at regular intervals.
He also asked that they ensure they have hand sanitizer near them so they apply same before and after handling items they sell.
“It is important that we prepare ourselves against this dangerous virus so that we do not have a situation to deal with. It is important that we wash our hands with soap and water and also apply hand sanitizer anytime we sell food stuff or items to people”, the MCE noted.
Touring the entire market square as well as the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Ahensan, the MCE demonstrated ways and manner to wash the hands.
He also showed the traders, driver unions and patients at the hospital , the manner the hand sanitizer is applied.
The MCE also took time to speak to market queens as well as hospital staff at the Asokwa community.
He urged those who have received education to carry the message to others and ensure that together they comply with the basic health guidelines given by the Health Ministry.
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer newspaper, Nana Akosah Yiadom, Aoskwa NADMO officer said his outfit was collaborating with the Municipal Assembly to conduct more of such sensitization exercises.
He said it was necessary that the public become aware of the dangers of the coronavirus.
This, he noted would enable them to know how to take precautions against same.
He commended the Asokwa MCE for taking the initiative to do the education by himself as well as tour all institutions in the municipality to conscientize the public.
