Vodafone Icons Remix edition: Ratty wins best act, Naya gets the boot

Vodafone Icons Remix editionThis week’s edition of Vodafone Icons Remix Edition was packed with top-notch musical performances, good stage craft, pure vocal maturity and a wonderful accompaniment by Vodafone Icons carpet band.

The contemporary gospel genre this week sprung yet another major surprise to the audience. When Chris performed Sonnie Badu’s Wonder God, the impressed Gena West admitted that she could feel Chris’ joy as he performed.

“You killed it” was Miss Naa’s comment as Alice song Alabaster Box by Cece Winnans. The evening was filled with good music from the contestants and complements from the judges.

The icing on the cake was Miss Naa’s ruling that Titi’s flawless rendition of From a Distance should be adjudged the Best Act of the Night. Not too long after the pronouncement on Titi’s performance, Ratty raised the standard as he sang original Twi rap verses for Frank Edwards’ You Too Dey Bless Me.

He received a standing ovation from the audience. This made the judges confused on who to award as the best act of the night. Nonetheless, Ratty was adjudged the best performer of the night and he went home with a sleek Alcatel phone.

After all the good-natured remarks by the returnee judge, Manifest, Naya was evicted. She will miss the opportunity to be part of the final five who will visit South Africa.

Like it happened to Naya irrespective of her wonderful voice and performance, none of the Vodafone Icons housemates are immune; every housemate runs the risk of getting nominated to the bottom two or being evicted.

Who will leave, who will stay and what repercussions will it have on the other contestants? Stay tuned to week 6 updates of Vodafone Icons Remix Edition.
