Two arrested for smuggling Indian hemp

Mutarla Mohammed, 25 and Salifu Kojeko, 27 have been arrested by the Tamale police for smuggling substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

The suspects were traveling from Wulugu near walewale in the northern region to Kumasi on a bus with registration number GT 3632 D.

handcuffedThe Northern Regional Public Relations Office of Police ASP Ebenezer Tetteh who confirmed the arrest to rawgist.com said, police had a tip off and intercepted the vehicle around mile 9 near the Kamina barracks in Tamale.

According to him, when police conducted a search on the vehicle,  25 compressed dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found concealed in three sacks of charcoal .

The two suspects were subsequently arrested and brought to the Tamale police station for further investigations.

ASP Ebenezer Tetteh indicated that the police will send the substance to the crime lab for authentication.

He states that after the police conclude their investigations they will arraign the suspects before court.
