Trader in custody for defiling 10 year-old

jail-prisonA 25 year-old- trader, Daniel Namii has been remanded into police custody by Techiman Circuit Court.

The accused pleaded not to the charge of defiling a 10 year- old pupil, Bernice Grey and would reappear before court on 7th October this year.

Prosecuting Officer, ASP Edmund Agyeman Badu told the court which was presided over by Mr. Daniel K. Obeng that, on 18th of October, 2013, the accused went to the victim’s school, Evangelical Presbyterian School at Nsuoano, a suburb of Yeji in the Brong Ahafo Region, to inform her that, the victim’s mother, Madam Erica Aziamezor, a seamstress, has sent him to pick her from school.

The victim also agreed and sat on the accused’s bicycle. Daniel Namii sent the victim to an uncompleted building and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her after which he threatened her with death should she disclose her ordeal to anyone.

ASP Agyeman told the court that Madam Erica Aziamezor observed changes in her daughter who admitted to being defiled upon questioning.

The victim’s mother therefore lodged a complaint to the Yeji police resulting in the arrest of the accused.

Medical checks at the Yeji government hospital also confirmed the victim had indeed been defiled.

Daniel Namii has been remanded into police custody and would reappear before court on 7th October for court’s hearing.
