The Police cannot be trusted during elections because they only work for the gov’t in power-Kofi Jumah

Maxwell-Kofi-JumahFormer Ashanti Regional Secretary  of the National Democratic Congress; Joseph Yammin has declared that President mahama will still win the up coming elections even if all presidential candidates plus Dr. Bawumia are combined in one person.

He made this statement when he called into Kumasi-based Metro FM’s morning show hosted by Kojo Marfo.

Former Deputy minister for local government under the NPP; Hon. Maxwel Kofi jumah had earlier on the show said that only three things mattered in elections as far as a political party’s victory is concerned. “Ghanaians do not necessarily determine who wins elections in this country”, he explained and said that it is rather rejected ballots and “ways and means” that wins elections.

He went on to say that during elections, the Security and all the state institutions work for the government in power. “The Police all work for the government during elections”; a situation he says wouldn’t give him the confidence to deal with the police on electoral issues.

yamminHis utterances however didn’t go down well with Hon. Yammin who called into the program to debunk his point and ask him to come out and substantiate his point by “telling us they used the police and other security agencies to rig the 2008 elections”.

The former Deputy Ashanti regional Minister chastised Maxwell Kofi Jumah and asked him to stop creating unnecessary tension through his unguarded utterances especially since he has been a Chief Executive and hence head of security of the second largest city in Ghana and has also been Deputy Minister for local government who supervised the 2008 elections.

Yammin then stated that the current NDC government does not need the Police nor any other security agency to win the upcoming elections and added that the personality of President John Dramani Mahama coupled with the developmental achievements of the government as well as a more comprehensive campaigning from the party is well enough for the president to beat all presidential candidates put together in the elections.
