The confederation of tertiary institutions has threatened a mass protest across the country if government carries on with its intention to pass on utility bills to students of tertiary institutions.
Government has stated that students in public tertiary institutions will now have to pay their own utility bills as one of the ‘innovative, alternative means of tackling increasing utility debts in public universities.
At a stakeholders meeting it agreed cost sharing be introduced to reduce full burden of utility bills on government, but addressing a press conference dubbed “YENTUA Utility Bills”on the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of science and technology, the SRC president of KNUST, Duut Aaron Sasu declared “education read alert”, calling on all students to be identified with something red to register their displeasure
