“Techiman Municipality makes headway in NHIS”-District Manager

nhisThe Techiman North District Manager of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Mr. Augustine Appau says  the scheme is making headway in the municipality.

He tells rawgist.com membership of their clients has increased from 101,000 in 2010 to 180,000 in 2014 .“This has placed Techiman Municipality first in the Brong Ahafo Region in terms of membership of clients” he stated.

Besides, the scheme has also done several construction works at it’s offices to ensure comfort of clients and efficient service delivery.

Mr. Appau who spoke to rawgist.com after the scheme’s quarterly review meeting in Techiman said “consistent delay in remitting our providers’ claims, unannounced and intermittent down time of the scheme, poor network, window shopping by clients, inadequate logistics, using office premises for emergency and among others are some of challenges confronting the scheme”.

He adds however that “the scheme is looking forward in 2014, to implement membership cards based on biometric data, provide instant registration cards to subscribers at the point of registration, implement electronic claims (E-CLAIMS) pilot project and establish three claims processing centers as well as educating and sensitizing clients on the relevance of being a member of the scheme”
