Tax political parties too- Rev. Victor Osei

Ghana Religion News-The Head pastor of Family Chapel International Rev. Dr. Victor Osei says the church is soon going to mount pressure on political parties in the country to file their annual tax returns.

He believes it will be appropriate for political parties in the country to pay tax towards the development of the country, since; some of the parties derive dividends from sales of nomination forms and other fundraising activities.

“Are our political parties taxed given the money that come into their chest and on how much they spent at the end of each accounting year? It will be prudent for political parties to submit their annual returns”, he demanded.

Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast, Rev. Dr. Victor Osei, hinted that, the churches want to streamline their homes before descending on other political parties in the country to pay tax.

He suggested the government put in place measures to enlarge the tax net since the tax paying population in the country is abysmal.

He argues that taxing of churches would not add much to the tax generated in annually in the country.

The Head Pastor appealed to Ghanaians to cooperate with government as far as raising resources for national development is concerned.
