Strong winds wreak havoc on Jakpa Primary School in Chereponi

20160323_164111A heavy windstorm has destroyed Jakpa Primary School in the Chereponi District of the Northern Region. Classroom structures have been destroyed and School children have been forced to remain home.

The District Education Director believes government’s intervention will alleviate the current situation the pupils find themselves in and impact positively on teaching and learning in the district.

rawgist.com’s sources in the district reveal that, the destruction caused by the disaster is fast compounding an already existing problem of truancy and a lack of interest in education.

The District Chief Executive Hajia Mary Nakobu has introduced school feeding to rejuvenate the pupils’ interest in education.

The District Education Director Mr Simon G. Bagbro, says ” the effect of this disaster is that, teaching and learning is not going on smoothly and it affects the children throughout their life because, the foundation is always important. ”

“The children do not have interest to school due to poverty and now this issue has cropped in so they will capitalize on this to stay home. “20160323_164128

Mr. Bagbro therefore appealed to Government and District Assemblies to respond to such situations timely to prevent this occurrence.
