Stale fish being washed with soap for sale in Kumasi, FDA wild

FDAThe Ashanti regional Food and Drugs Authority says it is on the move to hunt down and deal with cold store operators selling rotten fish to the public.

Many people who visited the Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi recorded cases of food poisoning which has been attributed to the consumption of stale fish.

Ashanti regional Director of the Food and Drugs Authority, Edward Vigil Prah Eshun, who was speaking on Kumasi based Ultimate FM assured residents the Authority will collaborate further with the hospital and other partners to ensure the culprits of the dangerous act are fished out.

He also encouraged the consuming public to volunteer information to the Food and Drugs Authority whenever they see something wrong with food or drug items for the necessary checks to be made in the interest of public safety.

He revealed the FDA has a staff strength of approximately 50 within the Ashanti region with about 20 going out to monitor consumer products daily for safety.
