The Essipong Stadium in Sekondi will host this year’s final of the MTN FA Cup involving Asante Kotoko and Medeama next month.
Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates that the Essipong Stadium has tentatively been selected by the FA Cup Committee for the finals billed for August, 30.
The source said the committee was awaiting approval from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), regarding the choice of venue, home to Premier League side, Sekondi Hasaacas.
The choice, according to the source was in line with the Committee’s policy to give this year’s competition a nation-wide appeal.
This comes after the semi-finals matches between Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko, Hearts and Medeama were hosted by the Sunyani and Cape Coast stadia respectively.
The winner automatically qualifies for next season’s edition of CAF Confederation Cup plus GHc 50,000 cash for preparations in addition to GHc30,000 prize money.
The last time both sides meet was in 2013 when Medeama emerged winners.
