School of Special Needs gets support from Loyal Ladies

Inmates at the Edwenase Rehabilitation Center, a school set up to work on children with mental and physical challenges last Saturday had broad smiles on their faces as they received support from the pro-NPP group, Loyal Ladies.

Receiving items such as dining hall tables, student mattresses, bags of rice, tin tomatoes, detergents, toiletries and assorted drinks the students danced and sang praises to God for the gesture.

In a brief presentation ceremony at the school’s compound after touring the facilities of the Center, the Loyal Ladies in the company of the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Kumasi, Osei Assibey Antwi commended the school’s authorities for keeping the children and the home well.

Established about two decades ago, the Edwenase Rehabilitation Center continues to rely on government for its subventions to cater for inmates.

LEADER:
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper after the presentation, Martha Koduah, Group Captain of Ashanti Loyal Ladies thanked God for enabling them to give to the needy.

According to her, having toured the center a few weeks back the group decided to come to the aid of the school since the inmates were eating on the bare floor at the dining hall.

The group, Madam Koduah also noted was touched by the many challenges at the home and hence the prompt response by her outfit.

Having received assistance from the office of the First Lady, the KMA Boss, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Elizabeth Agyemang and the Brafoko group of companies, Madam Koduah said the group decided to present these items to the school.

HOUSE MISTRESS:
Receiving the items on behalf of the Center, Rita Manu, House- Mistress of the Center thanked the Loyal Ladies for the gesture.

She noted the timely nature of the support and promised to use the items for the intended purposes at the Home.
The school, she noted still has a challenge in receiving their subventions on time from government.

This, she disclosed causes them to be in debt to food suppliers and pleaded with the KMA Boss to put in a word for them to get the money on time to cater for the inmates.

She also appealed for support from private and corporate organizations so as to enable the Center take better care of the students.
