Sampson K. Nyamekye, others honoured by Asanteman group

The Asanteman Association, USA branch has conferred honors on one of the experienced journalists in the Ashanti Region, Sampson K. Nyamekye.

At a colorful ceremony in Denver, Colorado the group named the Despite Media Personality as someone who has contributed immensely to the growth of journalism in Ashanti and Ghana as a whole.

According to group, Mr Nyamekye, who now doubles as the General Manager for Hello FM has for the past two decades churned out stories and new items that has gotten responses to help those in need.

Coupled with his insight into issues that affect the society, the Asanteman Association commended the Peace FM chief correspondent for being a light to those who are in the journalism profession.

‘’With our greatest appreciation we recognize Mr Sampson K. Nyamekye for your support and contribution to the growth of Journalism in Ghana’’, the group noted in a citation read by Obaa Yaa, member of the Association.

RESPONSE:

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper after receiving the award, an elated Mr Nyamekye expressed appreciation to the group for recognizing his humble contributions in journalism.

He stressed his commitment to leading the way to getting results from authorities on programs and policies they implement in the country.

According to him, policies and programs that government undertakes should benefit the people as well as cause the needed development in the country.

The under-privileged, Mr Nyamekye mentioned should also be given a voice to air their grievances so that they can receive the support they may need so direly.

‘’I am grateful to the organizers for finding me worthy to nominate for this award and am convinced this will spur me on to work extra hard to bring a positive impact on the society’’, Mr Nyamekye modestly noted.

OTHERS:

Receiving similar awards in their fields of endeavor, Hon Joe Osei Wusu and Hon Collins Owusu Amankwah, Members of Parliament for the Bekwai and Manhyia- North respectively were acknowledged for working to uplift the image of Asanteman in Ghana’s Parliament.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah received an award for his noble contribution to development of the Ashanti Region and for his earlier work as MP for Bosomtwi.

Receiving the highest honor on the night was Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem, Tepamanhene.

The famous Chief was honored for his service to Asanteman and for being a development oriented leader.
