Samira, Ashanti NPP Executives eat with widows

First lady; Samira Bawumia

The wife of the Vice-President, Hajia Samira Bawumia last Sunday ate and danced with about 350 widows at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) grounds in Kumasi.

The event, an initiative of the Samira Humanitarian Project was ably supported by the Ashanti Regional women’s wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Showing signs of profuse happiness, the widows sang the praise of the second lady as each of them took home a piece of GTP wax print, cooking oil, rice, non-alcoholic drinks and an unspecified amount of money for transportation.

Present at the highly electrifying atmosphere were the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) as well as members of the regional executive of the NPP including the calm-mannered Nana Ama Ampomah, the regional women organizer.

SAMIRA:

Speaking succinctly at the event, the Wife of the VEEP indicated her delight at the opportunity to sit at meat with widows in the Region.

She noted it is a blessing to give to those who through no fault of theirs have lost their husbands and partners.

The second lady therefore urged the public to constantly look out for the good of those whose husbands or wives are no more and treat them well.

The NPP, Samira noted should always show the way to doing the best things in life for the needy, under-privileged and the down trodden, adding such will endear the party to all Ghanaians.

WOMEN’S ORGANIZER:

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper later, Nana Ama Ampomah, women’s organizer for Ashanti NPP expressed happiness of seeing the invited widows enjoying their food and drinks at the event.

Mothers, she noted are home keepers together with fathers and so anytime one is not there to help the other the burden on the one alive becomes intense.

Nana Ama, as the women’s organizer is fondly called on behalf of the women’s wing pledged to continually remember widows and support them anyway they could.

She noted that in future the wing will consider doing same for widowers so that they can bring smiles to the faces of those who can easily pass as their fathers.

Present at the gathering were members of the Loyal Ladies, the famous all female group within the NPP.
