Angry NDC youth in the Nzema East Constituency of the Western Region are calling on the president to remove the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area.
They claim the MCE, James Atta Kakra Baidoo, is behind the incessant illegal mining in the area.
They also accused him of having used proceeds from tolls he collects from operators of the illegal trade to furnish his apartment at Axim.
The Communications Officer of the NDC in the area, Jonas Kabutey says they have petitioned the president to sack the MCE “to salvage the dwindling fortunes of the party in the area”.
He said the MCE “has been encouraging the illegal mining business within the municipality.”
The over 200 members of the party in the constituency are however threatening to embark on a demonstration if the president fails to act.
