Results of 321 WASSCE candidates cancelled

examThe West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says the entire results of 321 candidates who sat the 2014 examinations have been cancelled after being found culpable of examination malpractices.

Close to 2,000 others have also had subject results cancelled.

These were revealed in a statement issued by the examination-organising body on Monday, August 18, 2014.

The statement signed by Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, the Principal Public Affairs Officer of the Council, said results of the 242,162 candidates who sat the May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) have been released online.

Out of the total number, 68,062 representing 28.11 per cent qualified for tertiary admission.

“Following reports of examination malpractices and conclusion of investigations, the entire result of 321 candidates have been cancelled, while 1, 994 had their subjects results cancelled.”

It also indicated that results of candidates presented by 36 schools have been withheld, pending investigations.

“The withheld results would be released as soon as the Council concludes its investigations.”

Mrs Teye-Cudjoe mentioned, however, that as per a request from the Ghana Education Service, candidates with outstanding fees cannot access their results online until they settle arrears with their respective schools.
