Residents appeal for recruitment of 25 year old man for bravery

ghana policeResidents of the western region have appealed to the Ghana Police Service to recruit a 25-year old Amadu Odilago into the service for his bravery.

Amadu is now a hero in the western region after he personally arrested a notorious armed robber alone in the forest and handed him over to the police.

On July 1, 2015, armed robbers reportedly attacked vehicles which were plying the Asankrangwa- Sureso to Bawdie road in the western region. Many items were retrieved from the passengers.

According to Amadu Odilago, the armed robbers absconded during the arrival of the police. “As a good citizen I told my colleagues that they have not gone far and we can arrest them if we pursue them. I therefore decided to go into the forest where they escaped to with a gun”, he narrated.

He went on to recount how he spotted one of the robbers as he entered the forest and ordered him to stand still or lose his life”.

“I told him to stand still or I shoot at him since I was with a gun, but he refused. I then shot at him only to weaken his movement and handed him over to the police.”

The incident was reported to have happened in the morning while Amadu Odilago arrested the culprit at 1:00pm the same day.

The IGP through the western regional police commander awarded Amadu an amount of GHC2000 at the western regional police headquarters at Takoradi on the 3 July, 2015.

However there are calls by the ordinary citizens that Amadu Odilago, a senior high school graduate be recruited into the service.

Amadu told royal 89.3fm in the western region that he always had the desire to be in the Police service and purchased a Police form two years ago but failed to make it into the service.
