Re-introduce PE into tertiary education curriculum-Joseph Yammin

Joseph YamminFormer Deputy Sports Minister, Hon.Joseph Yammin is advocationg for the re-introduction of Physical education into the tertiary education curriculum.

He beleives it will help develop the skills and talents of the students.

Hon. Yammin noted “in the advance countries they seem to protect the the educational skills and also develop the natural talents especially in terms of sports; adding that this makes such personalities marketable enough”.

He was speaking on the Royal FM morning show.

Hon.Joseph Yammin stated that Ghana’s educational institutions frown on developing the football skills of talented students who pass out of the secondary level to the tertiary level.

“Ghana can have doctors who double as footballers, engineers who are footballers among others”, he reiterated.

He was also worried that Ghanaians have turned sports into money making business; a situation he says puts the sports ministry in a bad position.

“Ghanaians are not able to maintain their players to a specific standard since they are money conscious which has deteriorated the importance and acceptance of our local leagues”, he stated.
