Rapper, Signal to join Ghana Association of Songwriters (GAS)

Ghana Entertainment News-Ghanaian Rapper and Entrepreneur, Signal is set to officially become a member of the Ghana Association of Songwriters (GAS).

GAS seeks to establish itself as an Artiste and Repertoire (A&R)/Publishing Wing to ensure that songwriters and singers have exclusive rights over their artistic work.

The Association is also determined to clamp down on the use of vulgar lyrical content contained in music churned out in the country.

The Association, launched in June 2018 at the Zylofon Media headquarters, East Legon has Emmanuel Barnes (popularly known as Mr. Logic, as Founder and Chairman) with Edem, Trigmatic, Akwaboah, Wutah and other artistes being Executives.

Signal, known outside showbiz as Solomon Tettey explained to Bernard Buachi of rawgist.com that he believes in the vision of the Association, supports every effort to uplift standards in Ghana’s music industry.

Signal has already expressed his desire to set new standards for Ghana’s music industry.

The 2013 Nokia Rap Africa Finalist and graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has to his credit a single with one of America’s top vocalists; Fantasia Barrino. His forthcoming album MGM (Money God Music EP) also features several acts within and outside Ghana.

He wants to change negative perceptions about rap music and make it more attractive to young people.

He is encouraging all well-meaning musicians to join the Association and support it to make the music industry attractive and more productive.
