The era of quack surveyors duping the unsuspecting public will soon be a thing of the past.

This is the hope of the President of the Ghana Institute of Surveyors;  Maame Ama Edumadze Acquah as they look forward to the passage of a bill to regulate their profession.

She was interacting with www.rawgist.com during the institute’s 50th Anniversary celebration in Kumasi.

She says the passage of the Survey Council Act in Parliament will regulate the activities of surveyors in the country. She lamented that the Profession has been taken advantage of by some unscrupulous people who have no certification but engage in deceitful conduct. She says the passage of the law will help stop that.

She adds that the passage of the law will steer their activities and align them with international standards.

Furthermore, Maame Ama explained that the anniversary will provide the opportunity to celebrate the past, re-define the future, strategize to meet the need of the industry and be more relevant to the society.

Mr. Kofi Cobbold; chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee said the adoption of technologies such as drones for surveillance will help surveyors produce good work and live up to international standards.

He also hinted that Ghana will be the focus of the world as two world survey congresses will be hosted in Ghana.
