Press Statement: NDC condemns demeaning comments on JM by Ashanti Regional Minister

For Immediate Release

NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS – ASHANTI REGIONAL SECRETARIAT

WE CONDEMN THE USE OF UNPROVOKED DEMEANING COMMENTS BY THE ASHANTI REGIONAL MINISTER ON FORMER PRESIDENT JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA

The attention of the Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the NDC has been drawn to an uncouth, distateful and demeaning contents of an audio recording of the Ashanti Regional Minister at the NPP’s Regional Youth Conference in Kumasi over the weekend.

We condemn in no uncertain terms the loathe packed comments against the former President of the republic of Ghana and Flagbearer of the NDC by the regional minister. Such comments should have no place in any right thinking political space and to have come from a man paid by the taxpayer is indication enough that the Ashanti Region is in reckless and unfit hands.

Mr. Simon Osei Mensah has been established for his notoriously barbaric stance and utterances against people of high repute without any provocation whatsoever.

The NDC takes strong exception to the consistent and serialized detestable comments and actions aimed at smearing our flagbearer, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and therefore calls on President Akuffo Addo to discontinue the subtle endorsement of same by the continuous stay in office of such characters.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, clearly in a state of illusion went further to assure his party supporters that they would trample on the NDC in the 2020 elections. The minister, as head of REGSEC, must and should not take the peace we enjoy in Ashanti Region for granted.

The NDC is not a group of cowards. Notice is hereby served on the minister that we will, within our strength, forcefully, if elicited, protect the interest and rights of our party, flagbearer and members before, during and after the 2020 elections.

We urge all members of our party to trust leadership and have absolute confidence in our capacity to work at ensuring their safety as they go about party tasks.

Signed,

Zu Kwame
(Regional Secretary)
