Postnatal Women Prefer Male Midwives to Female Midwives –Mrs Cynthia Dzidzorme

The Director in charge of Nursing and Midwifery at the Ministry of Health, Mrs Cynthia Dzidzorme has stated that a survey conducted by her, shows postnatal Women prefer to be attended to by Male Midwives as against Female Midwives.

She explained that her findings from some postnatal women indicated that they would rather have a Male Midwife attend to them during labour than a Female Midwife because the Male Midwives are duty conscious, kind, reliable, respectful and dependable. She added that unlike most Female Midwives who shout at them during labour, their male counterpart are more humane and do not shout on them.

She as well pleaded with the graduates to remain steadfast and diligent to their work wherever they are posted to.

“Regardless of your area of study, know that losing a client out of negligence is not acceptable.’’  Mrs Dzidzorme emphasized.

She applauded the Vice Chancellor and all staff of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science And Technology as well as all principals and tutors of all the ministry of health training institutions in Ghana who played diverse roles in training the students.
