A police officer whose name was given as Corporal Eric Boateng is said to have attempted to commit suicide at Kaneshie Flamingo, earlier on Monday.
Eyewitnesses say they saw the police officer naked on the streets of Kaneshie stabbing himself and shouting for God’s forgiveness.
Onlookers reported the incident to the Odorkor Police, and Corporal Boateng was stopped and rushed to the Police Hospital in Accra.
The Public Relations Officer of the Hospital, ASP Juliana Obeng confirms to Adom News that the police hospital has received a police officer on admission, and he is responding to treatment.
She however claimed the police cannot confirm whether the officer allegedly stabbed himself or not.
ASP Obeng confirmed that the person on admission had a Ghana Police Service Administration identity card with him when they rushed him to the hospital.
She stated that the Odorkor Police monitoring team brought the said police officer to the hospital, adding that the police have begun investigations into what led to the police officer’s action.
