Perseus launches investigation into Edikan plant fire at Ayanfuri

goldThe Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission has begun investigations into fires that destroyed parts of the processing plant of Gold miner; Perseus Mining Company located at Ayanfuri in the central region.

The fire started during a scheduled maintenance yesterday and no casualties have been recorded so far.The fire was brought under control within an hour.

Social and Development Manager of the mines, Florence Ansere-Bioh, in an interview says investigations into the cause of the fire and the damage incurred, is currently under way. Damage of the plant is contained to an area of the plant around the cyclones, and involves damage to a cyclone, several rubber lined pipes, associated electrical cabling and air lines.

Perseus Mining is gold producer, developer and explorer in the West African Sub Region with its lead project being the Edikan Gold Mine, formerly known as the Central Ashanti Gold Project (CAGP), in Ghana.
