Our school building is a deathtrap – Konkoma Basic school cries for help
The Reagent of Konkoma in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti region has appealed for new classrooms for the Konkoma primary school.
Nana Oduro Agyei Panin II, in a speech delivered on his behalf by the krontihene of the town during a ceremony held by telecommunications giant MTN to commemorate this year’s International Literacy Day at Konkoma, lamented about the dilapidated nature of the current classrooms in which the pupils schooled. He said some of them are now using someone’s home as classroom since their original classrooms have become dangerous.
Head Teacher of the Konkoma D/A Basic School; Joan Yeboah Osei explained further that the unavailability of safe classroom space is affecting academic performance negatively and made an appeal to MTN to come to their aid and help them with a new classroom block.
MTN Ghana for their part motivated the kids and their parents to take academic work seriously and know that they can rise to become great citizens by so doing. They took the kids through reading lessons, Science demonstrations and also made donations to them.
