Odike cheated us-UPP faction claims

upp_pressconfSome officials of the United Progressive Party (UPP) who recently declared support for the flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) through its leader, Akwasi Addai Odike has in 360 degrees renounced their decision by endorsing the NDC candidate, John Mahama as their preferred choice in the upcoming polls.

Addressing a hurriedly arranged press conference in Kumasi, Alhaji Bashiru Zakari, First- Vice Chairman of the UPP claimed their leader fraudulently deceived them into throwing their support to the NPP.

According to him, their investigations revealed Mr Odike allegedly collected 50,000 Ghana cedis from the NPP before declaring support in an infamous fashion.

The group claimed they had since that declaration severed ties with the former flag-bearer, indicating Mr Odike no longer leads the UPP.

CONFUSION:
Recapping the grounds of dismissal of the flag-bearer, Alhaji Bashiru stated that from the UPP books Mr Odike ceased to be their flag-bearer in March this year.

This, according to him was based on gross contemptuous behavior as Mr Odike had used the party’s name in many shady deals.

Flanked by Mr K.Saahene, an aspiring MP for UPP for the Bantama constituency and Crosby Armah, secretary of UPP, Alhaji Bashiru indicated their flag-bearer had stolen three cars belonging to the party and had since not returned it.

They also claimed Mr Odike had used the party’s name to contract fraudulent loans of which the UPP was struggling to come to terms with.

DENIAL:
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper, Mr Akwasi Addai Odike denied all the allegations leveled against him.

He indicated no one in the UPP had the right to sack him from a party he single-handedly bank-rolled and set up to its present attractive status.

Mr Odike claimed the splinter group by their actions had been bought by the elements within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) after they all agreed to buy into the positive policies of the NPP flag-bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He observed no wonder at their infamous press conference the Campaign Coordinator of the NDC, Andy Osei Okrah was seated in the midst of the former members of the UPP.
