Obuasi to become a tourism destination… Under “The Whole Adansi” concept

The mining town of Obuasi might be turned into a tourism destination when The Whole Adansi concept takes shape.
The project, which would provide about 50,000 jobs for the people in the three district constituting the Adansi state namely Obuasi West Municipality, Obuasi East district and Adansi North district, will replicate infrastructures and architectural designs from around the world with the focus of making Obuasi look like of Johannesburg which has also been in the production of gold all these years. The focus of the project is to transform Obuasi along the lines of Johannesburg.
The  project is expected to be funded from private partnership and investors and  that depending on cash flow the project expected to be completed within a ten year period would  could take off soon.
The proponent of the project, Mr. Jojo Frimpong-Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of  The Whole  Adansi  Company Limited  has disclosed that his outfit is currently negotiating with investors to source funding for the implementation of the  project as soon as practicable.
He said the project would thrive on sustained development concepts and focus on affordable housing units in communities initially and later venture into infrastructural development and agriculture to create alternative livelihoods for the people.
Mr. Frimpong-Boateng also disclosed that most the concepts under the project would focus on creating tourist attractions across the Adansi area and thus attract arrivals to earn foreign exchange as Dubai is currently experiencing.
The idea, he said is to turn Obuasi as a tourist destination and create a befitting image for the town which has overseen the production of quality gold for more than hundred years as Johannesburg.
He said the concept would also consider developing gardens, Parks, farms, factories for food processing from its agricultural undertakings for local consumption and export citing large scale production of pineapples.
