NHIA Releases New List Of Medicines

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has released a new list of medicines to be prescribed to subscribers of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The list contains 522 formulations of medicines, with three medicines not on the previous list added to the new list, a statement signed by eth Communications Manager of NHIA, Selorm Adonoo, said.

The statement said Artesunate injection 30mg, one of the three additions, has been introduced to cater for paediatric doses, and Cholera Replacement Fluid 1 Litre has also been added because it was cost effective and readily available than the 500m.

“Ciprofloxacin+Tinidazole Tablet, 500mg+ 500mg has been added to the new list because the combined formulation is easier to administer than taking them separately,” it said.
