NDPC and UNICEF Join Forces to Amplify Child-Focused Development Planning

 

The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) and a UNICEF delegation has held a meeting to discuss enhanced cooperation in the planning and implementation of child-focused development execution.

This is intended to strengthen collaboration in advancing Ghana’s development priorities, particularly in fostering planning, coordination, and accountability strategies that address issues impacting children.

The meeting was held on Monday, November,11 2025 in Accra.

Director General of NDPC, Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah, emphasized the need of development partners working together to accomplish common national objectives adding that, although many organizations strive toward identical goals, their efforts frequently lack coordination.

“Everybody is holding a part of the solution to a common problem, bringing all institutions together will help create a clearer, unified development picture.” she said.

Dr. Amoah welcomed UNICEF’s proposal for a strategic planning retreat engrossed in advancing the best interests of children, outlining it as an opportunity for team building and joint problem-solving among partners.

She also called attention to NDPC’s progress in aligning the national policy framework with the President’s Coordinated Programme, ensuring greater consistency between planning and budgeting across government.

UNICEF Ag. Deputy Representative Mr. Hammad Masood praised NDPC for Ghana’s poignant national development framework, naming it as one of the most advanced in Africa and also

Introduced UNICEF’s “bottleneck-based planning” approach which is drawn to recognize and address systemic barriers that obstructs progress in vital areas such as child marriage, education, and health.
