NDC shifts Congress date from 13th to 20th December

NDCThe ruling National Democratic Congress has shifted the date for its national delegates’ congress from the 13th to 20th December 2014.

The venue – Kumasi – has however, not been changed.

Addressing the media on the reasons behind the date change, Wednesday, National Organiser of the party, Yaw Boateng Gyan said the move is to enable the national executives plan properly in view of the large number of people who will be attending the congress.

“We were going to rely solely on hotel accommodation which might make [the congress] very, very expensive,” he said.

He downplayed speculations that the change was effected at the instance of the president.

“If the president will want to take advantage of the postponement and honour the invitation, that one is welcomed,” Gyan added.

The national delegates’ congress of the ruling party – expected to elect new national executives – has been plagued with postponements and court actions.
