NDC polls: ‘Hawks’ reports false – Kofi Adams

Ghana Politics News-National Organiser of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has asked Ghanaians to ignore reports that members of pro-NDC vigilante group, The Hawks, created chaotic scenes at some centres across the country where the party’s regional elections took place.

According to him, the reports are based on the perception of some Ghanaians who want to dent the peaceful nature of the internal polls.

The NDC, over the weekend, elected its regional executives ahead of the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.

There were reports that one of the candidates for the chair slot of the Ashanti Region, Joseph Yamin, stormed the venue of the polls in the company of The Hawks, creating confusion in the process.

However, speaking on Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM hosted by Chief Jerry Forson on Monday, 3 September 2018, Mr Adams said: “This whole report is based on somebody’s perception but we don’t work with perceptions. So far, there hasn’t been any report from the police that there was chaos at the polling centres.

“If some of them attempted to cause trouble, then I condemn it, but it is not true that they caused trouble.”

He added: “All in all, we voted peacefully and that is what is most important to me. Whether Greater Accra, or Ashanti Region, everything went well, no one was hurt in the process.”
