“We Must also be Exempted From Tax!”- Ice Water Sellers to Nana Addo

The Association of Ghana Ice Water Sellers is humbly calling on the President H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to also exempt them from paying of their daily dues at the various bus terminals and markets.

President of the Association; Madam Helena Dwum Barfour explains the Kayaye’s who have been relieved of their tax burden by the President earn more income than they the ice water sellers. “A Kayaye will carry load from “pampaso” to Adum and take minimum amount of  GHc 3; an errand that takes less than 10 minutes to perform while an ice water seller will take a minimum of an hour in the scotching sun chasing cars in the middle of the road to the detriment of their lives only to make the same Ghc 3 profit from a whole sachet of 30 pieces. So if the government sees Kayayes who to us earn cheaper monies, as so vulnerable and hence need to be shielded from daily dues, then we believe that the President must hear our cry and grant us relief from out taxes too.

These sentiments were contained in a press statement issued by the Association and signed by their President; Madam Helena Dwum Baafour.

“We know Nana has a listening ear and will respond to our this humble proposal soon”, she said.
