MTN staff inspire basic school pupils at y’ello care

Staff and officials of MTN-Ghana, last week Friday exposed pupils of the Brodekwano Basic school to their unique voluntary working spirit by helping them to clean the school’s compound, paint the classrooms and refurbish the libraries with new working books.

Being their annual 21-day voluntary service period which is popularly referred to as Y’ello-care season, some members of staff of the company earlier before the durbar at the school, took positions at the classrooms and taught the school children how to read the books they were presenting.

Sharing jokes and having fun with the school children, the MTN volunteers also took the opportunity to share their work experiences and the network operations with the pupils.

Beaming with broad smiles, the school pupils also shared their experiences in school with the yello-care team.

Bukari Basintale underscored the importance MTN places on education.

According to him, the company believes education was the best pivot to provide knowledge and also empower people.

This vision, he mentioned was same being championed by the United Nations Education and Science Commission(UNESCO) which is to empower school children with basic knowledge in science and technology.

Mr Basintale therefore pledged the company’s commitment to ensuring it partners the government in providing quality education to all Ghanaian children so as to be able to compete with children elsewhere in the world.

KRONTIHENE:
Krontihene of Brodekwano in his address commended MTN for the gesture done to the Brodwkwano school.

According to him, anyone who supports education had the success of the pupils and the entire community at heart.

He, however, asked that the company assist the community to get their inaccessible roads in shape so as to enable them attract the needed support from other corporate and individual organizations.

The headmaster, in his succinct comments lauded MTN for the assistance and pledged to ensure the books are used for the purpose of which it was donated.
