Martin Amidu is jeopardizing his Presidential ambition with “his servant mentality of northerners”

NDCA group associated with the ruling NDC has come strongly against former Attorney General; Martin Amidu over some comments he is alleged to have made on Accra based Joy FM regarding northerners.

The group; Women for Mahama, also believe Martin Amidu’s accusation of President Mahama as corrupt is “baseless, unwarranted and ethically corrupt”.

A portion of the statement issued by the women stated “…we therefore find it totally repulsive and gravely objectionable that Martin Amidu considers President Mahama as a servant employed by a certain southern bonafide Ghanaians at whose whims and caprices the president must operate; so that if president Mahama does not please them, all northerners will be disfavoured. That is not only preposterous; it is mediocre”.

The statement signed by the group’s National Coordinator, Theresa Awuni, emphasized that Mr. Amidu is jeopardizing his chances at future presidential ambitions by his comments.

WOMEN FOR MAHAMA CONDEMN MARTIN AMIDU FOR HIS SERVANT MENTALITY OF NORTHERNERS

We are deeply disgusted at the pronouncements of Mr Martin Amidu about President Mahama and northerners on Joy FM’s Newsfile. First of all Martin Amidu’s accusation of President Mahama as corrupt is baseless, unwarranted and ethically corrupt.

We are women of Ghana. We hail from all corners of Ghana. And we never consider any Ghanaian as an appendage of others. Whether you come from the South or the North, we believe and agree with the Constitution of Ghana that, each Ghanaian is equal and has rights that are not and should never be subservient to another.

We therefore find it totally repulsive and gravely objectionable that Martin Amidu considers President Mahama as a servant employed by a certain southern bonafide Ghanaians at whose whims and caprices the president must operate; so that if president Mahama does not please them, all northerners will be disfavoured. That is not only preposterous; it is mediocre.

We wish to make it crisply clear to Mr Martin Amidu that, even though we find his view repulsive, he is free to think that his desire to be president is predicated upon his tribal connections with the north. We also grant his right to think that his rights are subservient to and his chances are dependent on southerners looking favourably upon northerner.

But we do not think that any northerner who considers him or herself equal to all Ghanaian should ever accept the views espoused by Martin Amidu. If a Ghanaian wishes to be President, that Ghanaian should never be restrained by his or her being a northerner.

In any case, who says that Martin Amidu’s vendetta against President Mahama should be a credible basis on which the President should be assessed?

Long Live the NDC
Long Live President Mahama
Long Live Ghana.

Signed:
Theresa Awuni,
National Coordinator,
Women for Mahama.
