March 25 declared national day of fasting and prayers against coronavirus

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has declared March 25, a National Day of Fasting and Prayers to seek the face of God in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak in Ghana.

Ghana has currently confirmed 21 cases with one death. The 20 are responding to treatment with eight, whose conditions have improved, being managed from their homes.

The President, in an address to the nation Saturday night, appealed to Christians and Muslims to pray to God for His protection.

“Let us pray to God to protect our nation and save us from this pandemic,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to the Christian and Muslim clerics who prayed for the nation on Thursday and Friday for their immense contribution towards the fight against the virus.

President Akufo-Addo pleaded with Ghanaians to comply with the measures put in place to stem the spread of the disease.

He said adhering to the measures was the only way the Ghanaian could be protected.
