The MCE noted many indigenes had relocated to the capital city in search of jobs due to the unavailability of same in the Kumasi Metropolis.

HISTORY:
Previously, Mr Assibey recalled the Kumasi metropolis had in existence many State and multi-national companies such as the Accra Brewery Limited and Saawood Timber and Logs Company Limited that employed most of the indigenes.

Sadly, he noted same cannot be said about the Metropolis now because most of the multi-national companies had relocated their businesses to the capital city of the country.

Other state companies, the MCE bemoaned had become defunct due to the bad nature of the local managers and workers.

He, however, promised to ensure the Metropolis works again, adding the time had come for the change of attitude so as to attract the needed investments for the area which was commonly referred to as the Garden City of West Africa.

This, he said was the best way to making residents feel part of the vision of transforming the metropolis into a purely business and trading avenue.
