Lawyer challenges Ghanaian lawmakers to come clear on homosexuality

Evans-AmankwahKumasi based legal practitioner, Evans Amankwah wants the country’s law makers to come clear on laws on homosexuality.

The lawyer who was speaking exclusively to rawgist.com on recent happenings regarding homosexuality in other parts of the world stated that our laws as they are do not criminalize homosexuality.

“Our laws do not criminalize homosexuality. The law must come clear on that. People argue that homosexuality is a choice, I beleive it can be somebody’s choice to pick up a gun and rob someone. Is it the best thing to do?”

The lawyer who worked on the subject of homosexuality for his thesis opined that Ghanaians should not uphold American culture root, stem and branches since Ghana is an entirely different society.

“Go to our hospitals and see the effects on people who are being sodomized. I am against it and I know many Ghanaians are against it. I have been to America before and it is a completely different environment. Ghana is different.”

He challenged Ghanaian lawmakers to come out with clear laws criminalizing homosexuality to enable citizens make arrests whenever people are caught in the act.

“Even animals know better not to have male-male sex”, he concluded.
