Kumasi Prison fire and attempted jail break committee promises to deliver on time

prison-committeeA committee set up to investigate the Kumasi Central Prisons Fire outbreak and attempted jail break have assured a thorough job within the stipulated 14 days they have been given.

The five member committee include the Ashanti regional crime officer of the Police Command Chief Superintendent Peter Baba who is the chairperson,Superintendent Martin Anku Blame of the Ghana Prisons Service, Captain N.Y.S Mensah of the 4BN, Mr Festus Mensah-Gbekor of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) and Mr K.Osei-Poku also at the Regional Coordinating Council.

The committee will also assess the effects and damage caused as a result of the incident and make recommendations to avert future recurrences.

Some inmates of the Kumasi central prisons lost their lives and other prison officers sustained injuries when a fire outbreak occurred at the Kumasi Central Prisons on 4th February, 2015.

Chairperson of the committee, Chief Superintendent Peter Baba tells rawgist.com they will work well within the mandated period.

The committee is expected to  submit its report to the REGSEC on Thursday 5th March,2015.
