Kumasi Metro Mass Transit Undergoes Massive Renovation

The regional manager in charge of the Kumasi Metro Mass Transit (MMT) Terminal, Mr Nicholas Oduro has indicated that, the terminal is undergoing massive renovation to bring comfort to passengers who have been patronizing the service of the company.

According to him, amid growing public complaints and dissatisfaction with the state of the terminal, he has contributed massively to renovate the yard one year into his administration.

‘It’s barely a year since a I assumed office as the regional manager of Metro Mass Transit. I must say that things have been pretty difficult. Electricity supply at the terminal was disconnected three days after my appointment. The company owed electricity arrears of 2.4 million Ghana Cedis, but I have been able to negotiate with the Electricity Company of Ghana to give us electricity assess,’ he said.

Mr Nicholas Oduro recounts that the MMT owed Fifty Thousand Cedis water bill with continuous monthly bills of Twelve Thousand Cedis.

Enumerating some successes his office has chalked so far to Rawgist.com, he stated that; The Kumasi MMT has constructed two boreholes to address water challenges at the terminal, adding that 24 seater water closets have been renovated for passengers to ease themselves.

”The Kumasi Metro Mass yard often turns muddy when it rains .This has caused us to collaborate with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to tar the yard and its surroundings. This exercise has  slowed down due to recent rainfalls in the city, but we hope to continue as soon as possible” He added.

He further stated that, Metro Mass has acquired a land to build hostels for passengers who travel at night.

The transport company has also introduced night service for passengers, especially those from the Northern regions in order to avoid renting mattress to sleep which could lead to contracting disease.
