KMA sets up validation committee to allocate stalls

Ghana Ashanti Region News-The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has inaugurated a committee that will oversee the validation of the statuses of traders that occupied spaces at the former Kejetia Market.

This committee is also tasked to ensure they diligently allocate the stores and stalls that have been completed at the first phase of the re-developed market arena.

At a meeting last Friday at the Quarshie Idun Hall in Kumasi, the Metro Chief Executive for Kumasi, Osei Assibey Antwi announced an 11 member team including the consultant for the validation and allocation process.

Chaired by the famous Chief of Amoaman, Nana Agyenim Boateng the MCE urged the team to discharge its activities devoid of any political or religious considerations.

‘’Today I as the MCE inaugurate this 11 member committee and the task is to ensure that all whose data and records are with the KMA as having stalls before the redevelopment of this Kejetia market are allocated with same through a purely transparent process’’, Mr Assibey Antwi noted.

ASSURANCES:

Giving assurances to the gathering, the Mayor intimated that the members of the validation committee had been carefully chosen based upon their expertise and competence.

According to him, they are members who have distinguished themselves in earlier work entrusted into their care and shown commitment to the course of developing Kumasi.

The Mayor asked for support for the team as it carries out its assignment and urged those whose data is with the KMA to be calm as the process begins.

He also assured the traders and businessmen that no bias will be tolerated since the committee working has the blessings of the Overlord of Asanteman, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

‘’I assure you that this committee has been rigorously selected to oversee this project and having been mandated to do this by the blessings of Otumfuo no one has any cause to worry because no bias or political considerations will be tolerated’’, the Mayor assured.

CHAIRMAN:

Speaking after their inauguration, Nana Agyenim Boateng, Chairman of the Validation Committee assured the public of carrying out a process that will be transparent to all.

He promised the public to carry out its process without bias, preferences or political considerations.

He mentioned that the process of allocating the stalls to persons whose data have been captured by the KMA was a decision by the Asantehene.

This, he noted imposes a great degree of sincerity on all committee members to ensure the process of allocation is done seamlessly and flawlessly.

The members of the committee are; Nana Agyenim Boateng (Chairman), Nana Owusu Afriyie, Alex Sarfo Kesse , Juliana Nsiah, Deborah Okrah, Theresa Osei Tutu,  Patrick Adu Poku, Yaa Foriwaa, Yvonne Nabo and two others to be appointed at a later date.
