Juaboso Assembly gives to persons with disability

Ghana News-The Juaboso branch of the Federation of People With Disability(FPWD) has commended the Nana Addo government for increasing their share of the district assemblies common fund from 2% to 3%.

According to the group, the increment testifies of the commitment of the government to their welfare and upkeep.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper after taking delivery of various items and equipment meant to help them start up in business, Mr Joseph Awuah, Branch head of the FPWD lauded government and the Juaboso District Assembly for fulfilling their promises to them.

With 19 of the members receiving fridges, 5 receiving hair dressing equipment, 3 getting shoe-making machines, 1 person receiving a pounding machine and 14 having start capital of GHC 1,000.00 as start up, Mr Awuah expressed delight at the opportunity to do something for themselves with what government has supplied them.

ADMONITION:

Advising his colleagues, Mr Awuah urged them to use the equipment and seed capital for ventures they signed for.

He noted the era where they were sitting at the road side to beg for alms and food for themselves and family is past.

The government, he mentioned has made available to persons with disability opportunities to get training or get some funds to start business.

According to him, there was therefore no reason to be lazy or hide behind a deformity or disability to court sympathy from the public.

Speaking to this reporter, Martha Kwayie, District Chief Executive for Juaboso District Assembly in the Western Region expressed happiness for having the opportunity to give to support persons with disability.

She praised the administrator of the District Common Fund for the timely release of funds to the district assemblies.

This, she noted has enabled the Juaboso Assembly to provide some start-up capital and equipment to the FPWD to fend for themselves.

Madam Kwayie commended the Nana Addo government for increasing the allocation to persons with disability from 2% to 3% and urged the FPWD to use their start-up capital wisely.
