Immediate Release,

Wed, 10th May, 2017.

DANIEL BUGRI NAABU AND OTIKO JABA MUST BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY-  SAVANNAH RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY NETWORK  (SARAN)

Following the recent damning revelations from Mr. Bugri Naabu that the Honourable Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ms. Otiko Afisa Djaba was involved in the planning and acid murder of the late Adams Mahama, we the members of Savannah Research and Advocacy Network call on the government to immediately start investigation into the matter.

The entire Upper East Regional capital, Bolga became as silent as the cemetery on 21st May, 2015 following the death of the late NPP Regional Chairman, Mr. Adams Mahama. Mr. Mahama whose untimely death was due to showering him of  acid from his own party members at his residence shocked the entire globe.

Civil society groups, corperate bodies and Ghanaians demanded justice immediately. However, almost two years to today there is no justice seen.

Fellow Ghanaians, God reveals things accordingly in His own time and will. Because of that we are now certain that this is the best opportunity to drastically deal with the revelations and bring the perpetrators to book once and for all.

The allegation made by Bugri Naabu in an interview with an Accra based radio station, XYZ, 93.1 MHz should not be swept under the carpet.

Many Ghanaians do not want to venture into politics to take up leadership positions because of their fear of these unwanted and unwarranted killings, physical and verbal attacks by some vicious politicians who do not think about the future generations but are only bent on turning this country into a “Boko Haram” one.

This, if not nippped in the bud, will undoubtedly push people to take the law into their own hands. What will happen then? State of anarchy!

We must as Ghanaians act promptly and treat the revelations made by Bugri Naabu with seriousness. We must bring sanity in our Ghanaian politics to help restore confidence in our political landscape.

By this press release, we are calling on the National Security Minister, Attorney General, IGP, BNI, National Security and Interior Minster to as a matter of urgency investigate the allegation made by Mr. Daniel Bugri Naabu. We are also humbly and respectfully calling on H.E. Nana Akuffo Addo to revoke the appointment of Ms. Otiko Djaba with immediate effect.

We will be forced to hit the streets to demand justice if the designated bodies fail to commence investigation within one week.

We hope the government responds to this call with all the seriousness it deserves

…..Signed. …..
